Specialized Transportation
This program is operational Monday through Friday and provides rides to area residents for work related needs and special appointments.
History

New Hope Center began providing transportation services in 1975 after receiving a van from the Betty Crocker Corporation. The donated vehicle was the result of area residents saving a very large number of labels from Betty Crocker products. At that time, each label represented a certain number of points that could be redeemed for equipment that would benefit educational and charitable organizations.
Fixed Route Service

Fixed route services are provided throughout Calumet and into Manitowoc Counties. A combination of three vans and wheelchair accessible busses are dispatched from Chilton between 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and again from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday. The primary purpose is to transport individuals participating in New Hope Center programs. Passengers are picked up at their place of residence, transported to NHC or a community employment site and returned home in the afternoon. The service is also made available to the general public on a space available basis. Based on the availability of funding, passengers are charged a fee for this service.
Valley Transit Connection

A fixed route connection for general public use is offered Monday through Friday between Chilton and the greater Appleton area. For a fee of $4.00, individuals can ride the NHC van between Chilton and the Darboy Goodwill bus stop. Passengers are offered a free transfer onto the Valley Transit Bus system and can travel to connecting bus stops throughout the greater Appleton area. This service can also be accessed to travel from Appleton to Chilton. Additional information about Valley Transit is available at http://www.appleton.org/departments/transit/
Demand Response Service

New Hope Center’s vehicles, including several cars are also available to transport individuals and groups on prearranged trips. This service is frequently used by area service organizations to transport individuals for social and recreational activities. Fees for this service are based on driver time and the number of miles traveled.
